There is plenty going on here at ABL HQ, and we’re particularly proud of the team behind the scenes that continues to drive the organisation forward. Some people have been here for years, and others a few short months, but each one deserves their moment in the spotlight.
This month, we’re getting to know our office manager, Lisa Munslow, and finding out a little more about her role, what she loves most about it, and why she believes ABL is a great place to work.
Summarise your role in one paragraph:
I would say it’s to do all the jobs that no one else does! In truth, my main responsibilities are bookkeeping and accounts, HR, compliance, and health and safety. In simple terms, I take care of the office and the ABL family.
What’s the best part of your job?
I really love the variety of tasks that I undertake each day. No working week is the same and I’m constantly learning new things. Every skill I’ve acquired during my career is utilised, and I feel ‘useful,’ which, in turn, gives me great pride in my work.
How do you think ABL differentiates itself from its competitors?
ABL stands out because we take the time to get to know the businesses we are dealing with and the people behind the scenes. Every case is different, because there isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to finance.
We want to build lasting relationships with our clients so that we can continue to provide help and support long into the future. I like to think that we give the same advice to our customers as we would to our close friends.
What three words do you think best describe ABL?
Unique, personable, and creative.
What three words would your colleagues use to describe you?
Loud, fun, and caring.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
When I was a child, I wanted to be a fashion designer. I really loved drawing and was influenced by the clothes worn by my favourite bands and film stars — I wanted to be the next Zandra Rhodes because she was so quirky and totally bonkers!
What’s the first thing you do when you get home on a Friday evening?
I catch up with my daughters and ask them how their day has been. It’s usually the only day of the week they are both likely to be in when I get home from work. Then I pour myself a nice, chilled glass of wine.
Where is the best place in the UK for a two-day getaway?
I’d recommend a city break. I like to be somewhere where I can go to a gig or the theatre, followed by nice food and a few drinks. Manchester is great for this, and not too far away from us in West Yorkshire.
If we were to spend a day binging box-sets, what series would you recommend we watch?
I’d recommend Green Wing. It’s set in a hospital and follows the people that work there. It’s just a daft, surreal comedy which is right up my street.
How does your ideal Sunday pan out?
I would stay in my PJ’s all day, watch TV, do a bit of sewing, eat junk food, and drink wine. Sunday is the only day I ever really get to totally relax, so I’m over the moon if I don’t need to leave the house.
